Ela graduated from Fordham University with a BA in Theatre and English before completing an MA in Arts Administration (Merit) and a second MA in Writing (Merit), both at Columbia University. She has over 20 years of experience as a professional writer and art critic, with work published in leading international publications including Artforum, Film Comment, Frieze, New York Review of Books, Village Voice, Sight & Sound, and Vulture.
Alongside her writing career, Ela has taught critical reading and writing at Columbia University as an academic instructor. She supports students in the later years of school with English Language and Literature, business English, grammar, rhetoric, deep revision, and critical writing. She is also an experienced mentor for university applications into the US system, offering guidance on personal statements as well as SAT preparation. In addition, Ela tutors adults, helping them refine their English for both academic and professional purposes.
